Sustainable infrastructure checklist and toolbox

This abstract has open access
Abstract Summary
Amsterdam has ambitious sustainability policy goals. However, realising the goals remains challenging. Infrastructure projects are a big part of what the city works on and where impact can be made. Therefore, to implement the goals in the infrastructure projects, the Sustainable infrastructure checklist and toolbox have been developed. Using the checklist and toolbox, project leads learn what needs to be done to contribute to the realisation of our city's sustainability goals. From 2024 onwards, in Amsterdam every infrastructure project is obliged to contribute to the realisation of every sustainability goal, except when the board decides that an exception has to be made. The checklist and toolbox have already proven to be of great added value for Amsterdam. In a Special Session, we would like to present the checklist and toolbox, to then discuss with the participants how to improve them. Questions can be added to the checklist, and tools can be added to the toolbox. It would also be interesting to discuss whether the checklist and toolbox could be adapted for use in other cities' infrastructure projects.
