We have been building with wood for centuries. But nowadays, locally harvested (city) trees are often rejected for construction. In fact, currently rejected city trees are used as biomass, while we can perfectly use these Dutch wood species for housing to address our housing shortage.
The big challenge is: "how do we develop local wood (construction) chains, and can we standardize the use of different wood species for housing? During this interactive workshop we will tackle these issues. Based on actual cases (e.g. Gooi- en Vechtstreek and Rotterdam), we will dive deeper into the potential value of local wood (building) chains and explore with you the answer to the question, "How do we go from rejected city trees to housing?"
