Experiment - The Great Food Dilemma

Session Information

Experimentational design for participatory research on food futures: Invitation to join a playful audio-visual quiz followed by a dialogue to think about the role of food consumption in our society. In the context of sustainability, we need imagination to envision that we may not think entirely possible, but can spark new ideas and push us toward a completely different way of doing things; toward a radically new normal.

But what is normal? Our entire society is heavily geared towards consuming food at any time at any place for any occasion, but how normal is that really? There are significant issues with the current approach: it's unhealthy, unfair, harms the environment, and we often consume more than we need.

So, how could we reimagine what's considered normal in how we consume things from a societal perspective? What if food was no longer necessary for survival, how much would this affect your social life? Probably more than you think. In a playful quiz you are challenged to take a critical look at your daily activities that involve food consumption.

What if ....? What would that mean for the design of our society?
